Dear My New Self,
Read & heard numerous times, “The only thing Constant in the world is Change“
The truest words ever thought of or spoken by man.
There’s nothing in the world that can ever be the same. People change, looks change, situations change, minds change, hearts change, needs change, wants change.. the whole world changes… except Life, that remains the same.
What you are today isn’t what you used to be yesterday and isn’t what your going to be tomorrow
This is exactly why we should start living each day as it comes rather then brooding over what happened in the past and worrying about what the future is going to hold.
A lot of people live their lives trying to please everyone around them, fulfill their needs, tend to their happiness, change what makes others sad and so on. But can you imagine, if you have 500 people in your life and each of them have at the least 1 uncommon need, you have to alter yourself 500 times to fit each of their definition of satisfaction? Can you imagine how many times you have to change yourself to cater to other peoples’ contentment in a lifetime? It is obvious that you will end up losing yourself. And when that happens, you start suffocating in your own body.
In that case how can anyone be happy? When you are spending most of your life making others happy and can’t recognize yourself at the end of the day, you are dissatisfied, naturally everyone around you is going to catch the unhappy flu at some point or the other. You cannot keep faking a smile all of your life!
You have to accept the inevitable and change with the change within you rather then the change around you. It’s YOU who has to live with yourself not the people. They have their own lives, their own needs, their own wants. Most of them will get theirs fulfilled and you will be left behind with nothing but marks of the footsteps of the people who walked all over you.
The question is who do you want to be?
The person who stands up for what they want and finds happiness being themselves or the person who gets trampled all over because they were chicken enough to fight!
Nobody says that following your heart is always going to bring peace of mind, yet there are chances of it happening. But not following it will fill your life with regret of not knowing what could have been if you did. Even if it means giving up and rejecting what you once needed but don’t need anymore. Do not be afraid to change, because Change brings Opportunity! And as far as I’ve noticed, you cannot run away from it.
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.
– Anatole France
All the best for everyday and a very Happy Good Bye!
With lots of love, hugs & kisses,
My Old Self!
